The last 2 weeks might have been the best weeks of 2017/2018 (already yes). This is because I saw my boyfriend again after 3,5 months, and we traveled around in Thailand together. Our Destinations were: Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi Don, Phuket and again Bangkok.
The first day was a little stressful for me, because I had to wake up around 4.30 AM in order to pick up my boyfriend at the airport. However, I arrived 30 minutes too early, when I found out that his flight had more than an hour delay… When he finally arrived, we weren’t able to find eachother for a while since there were 2 arrival gates, but I could not enter one of them (the one he arrived in…). So while stressing already, I went to the tourist police, and at that exact moment he FOUND ME.
On our first day, I showed him the neighbourhood I live in. We visted Waft Me, a waffle restaurant which is amazing, the school, a shopping mall and so on.
The next morning we already had to catch a flight to Chiang Rai. We decided to just stay here for one night, because the city was rather small and we really wanted to visit the Wat Rong Khung (the white temple). When we arrived, we first visited our resort and later we had a late lunch. After that, we took an Uber to the temple, which was about a 20 minutes drive from where we stayed. The temple was amazing, you could see all the small details in it and it was so beautiful!!!
The next day we planned on going to Chiang Mai, which is the second largest city of Thailand. We planned on going there early, but unfortunately, the busses were full, so we arrived around 6PM. Luckily, Chiang Mai has lots of activities at night, so we visited the old city center, which has lots of small shops, restaurants, temples and so on. It was really beautiful.
Elephant Nature Park
On our second day in Chiang Mai we booked a trip to the Elephant Nature Park. This park was located about an hour drive outside of Chiang Mai, and here we were able to help the elephants. The day started of with giving the elephants some food, bamboo sticks and bananas, so they were able to get to know us and know that we were okay. After giving them a lot of food, we started with our walk. We took care of 3 baby elephants and 1 granny. They were all so cute. During the walk, all of the elephants were eating a lot, some of the babies were blowing some sand over their back and just checking out the area. In the beginning I was a little scared if they would step on my feet, but luckily that didn’t happen. After our walk, we had to bathe them, which was so much fun! the elephants were rolling in the water just like dogs do and you could put mud on their skin, which is really good for them. They enjoyed it so much. It was so cute to see that they were so happy. After the mud bath, we again gave them some food. We were also able to cut the bamboo, which was nice, but I sucked in it. However, Geof killed it. Another thing what I really liked about this day was that there was this cute dog at the ranch. After all, this definitely was one of the most fun days of our holidays.
The next morning we already had a flight to catch at 7 AM. This time, the destination was Krabi, located in the south of Thailand. Stupidly, I booked our stop over wrong, so we had a 12 hour stop over in Bangkok, but the airport is close to my home so we just went home first. We finally arrived at our hotel in Krabi around 1 AM. The next morning we rented a scooter and visited Ao Nang Beach, there Geof had his first smoothie bowl (which was delicious btw) and we chilled at the beach. We really wanted to go to Railay beach, but we found out a little too late that you were only able to go there by boat, while we were already a few miles away from Ao Nang.. So in the evening we went to Krabi town, and had some dinner. Krabi was amazing, the only weird thing is that you did not have to show a license to rent a scooter.
Long story short, my Chirstmas was amazing this year, celebrating Christmas eve in Chiang Rai, first Christmas day in Chiang Mai, and the second Christmas day with the elephants!!
